August 20:
Disclosure Document
Today we held a class scavenger hunt to help us to get to know our classmates. After this, we did a book tasting (preview) of the books in the class library. We will be setting up our class files next class period.
August 22:
Today we wrote about how our summer went. After this, we set up our class files. We then wrote poems about what our names mean.
August 26:
Today we started our unit on the value of education. We had a class discussion and watched three youtube videos on education.
August 28:
Today we discussed in groups various topics concerning education. After this, we started reading and annotating our first article. If you were absent, you may pick this up when you return.
August 30:
Today we began reading and annotating our first article. We will continue this next week.
September 4:
Today we began writing our sentence of the week. We also began our interviews with another classmate.
September 6:
Today we finished our interviews. We then had a game time as as reward for working hard this week.
September 10-18:
We finished Article #1, started our unit on Natural Disasters, and took the listening portion of the WIDA pre-assessment. Please make sure you complete the journals and/or started if you are ever absent.
September 20:
Today we had a word of the day for our Natural Disasters unit. If you were absent, you will need to complete this in your journal when you return. After this, we had our game/reward day.
September 24:
Today we did our stations. If you were absent, you will need to get the assignments for the stations when you return.
September 26:
Today we did a lesson on floods and earthquakes. If you were absent, you will need to get the handouts for the lesson when you return.
September 30:
Today we did a lesson on wordles for our Natural Disasters unit. We will finish this next time.
October 2-8:
We have been reading Esperanza Rising during class and completing vocabulary lessons and quizzes for each chapter. If you have been absent, please make sure you get these made up.
October 10:
There was a sub today. The first half of the class period was spent on catching up on any homework or last minute assignments for our classes. After this, the class played games.
October 14:
Today we started using Language Live on the chromebooks. We started our benchmark assessments.
October 16:
Today we began creating character cell phones for a character from Esperanza Rising.
October 23:
Today we continued working on our benchmarks for Language Live.
October 25:
Today we continued working on our Language Live benchmarks. We also completed a word search for Esperanza Rising.
October 29:
Today we continued working on our Language Live benchmarks. We finished our character cell phones and completed a Halloween word search.
October 31-November 20:
We have been working on Language Live!
November 22 and 26:
Journal and silent reading.
Today we worked on Language Live and did a grammar lesson on proper use of is and are in a sentence. If you were absent, you will need to complete these handouts when you return.
